A zero-click search rate calculator shows what share of your Search Console impressions never turned into a click, a number that matters more every year as featured snippets, AI Overviews and other on-SERP answers keep more searchers from ever leaving Google.

What counts as a zero-click search

A zero-click search happens when a searcher's question gets answered directly on the results page, through a featured snippet, knowledge panel, People Also Ask box or AI Overview, and they never click through to any site. Your page can still rank and generate an impression for that query while contributing zero clicks.

How the calculation works

Subtract your total clicks from your total impressions to get the number of zero-click impressions, then divide that by total impressions and multiply by 100. Pull both numbers from Google Search Console's Performance report, filtered to whatever query, page or date range you want to check.

Reading the number correctly

A rising zero-click rate is not automatically bad news. Ranking inside a featured snippet or AI Overview still puts your brand in front of the searcher even without a click, and some queries were never going to send traffic in the first place because the intent was purely informational. Watch the trend on queries that used to send real clicks and are now flattening out, since that pattern is the more useful signal to act on.

FAQ

Zero-Click Search Rate Calculator: questions, answered

What is a zero-click search?
A zero-click search is one where the searcher gets what they need directly on the results page, through a featured snippet, an AI Overview, a knowledge panel or a similar element, and never clicks through to any website. It counts as an impression for the pages shown but not as a click.
How is zero-click rate calculated?
It is the share of impressions that did not result in a click: subtract your total clicks from your total impressions, then divide by total impressions and multiply by 100. You can run this on your whole site or on a single query or page from Search Console.
Where do I get impressions and clicks numbers?
Google Search Console's Performance report shows both totals for any date range, query, or page. Export the numbers you want to check and enter them here.
Is a high zero-click rate always bad?
Not necessarily. Ranking inside a featured snippet or AI Overview for a query still builds brand visibility and trust even without a click, and some queries are simply informational enough that most searchers never intended to visit a site. A high rate matters more when it is rising sharply on queries that used to drive real traffic.
Can this calculator tell me why my zero-click rate is high?
No, it only calculates the rate from the numbers you provide. To understand the cause, check whether your top queries in Search Console are triggering featured snippets, AI Overviews or People Also Ask boxes, since those SERP features are the main drivers of zero-click behavior.
