An AI Overview readiness checker scans a piece of content for the structural signals that answer engines lean on when deciding what to extract and cite, then scores it out of 100 with a plain breakdown of what to fix. Paste in a page's body text and the score updates as you edit, so you can rewrite and recheck in the same window.
The score starts at a neutral baseline and adjusts for five things: whether the opening sentence states a plain answer in 30 words or fewer with no question mark, whether the content includes at least one bulleted or numbered list, whether it contains a concrete number or statistic, whether it includes a question-style heading useful for FAQ and People Also Ask matching, and whether the total word count falls in a typical useful depth range. A penalty applies if the average sentence length runs long, since dense, clause-heavy sentences are harder for both readers and language models to lift cleanly into an answer.
AI Overviews and similar answer engines are built to extract a compact, quotable answer, not to summarize an entire article. A page that spends a paragraph building context before stating its point is harder to pull from than one that answers plainly in the first sentence and then supports that answer with lists, numbers and specifics underneath. Writing for skimmers, in other words, tends to also write well for extraction.
Structure only gets a page into the running. AI Overviews and other answer engines still weigh topical authority, whether multiple independent sources agree, how current the information is, and the underlying accuracy of the claims themselves, none of which this checker can evaluate from pasted text alone. Treat a high score as removing a structural barrier to citation, not as a prediction that a citation will follow.
