How we make this list: we compare pricing pages, product documentation and public user reviews. Rankite is independent; if a vendor ever pays for a featured spot, that listing is clearly labeled Partner.
Key takeaways
- Only three vendors publish prices: Alt Legal (from $60/month for 50 matters), AppColl (from $100/user/month) and IPzen (from 2,500 euros/year). Everyone else sells by custom quote, so budget an extra sales cycle for Anaqua, Dennemeyer, IPfolio, Questel and Corsearch.
- If trademarks are your whole practice, Alt Legal and IPzen are built around that workflow, with direct USPTO data connections and matter-based pricing that does not punish you for adding users.
- Corporate teams managing patents and trademarks together get more from AppColl, Anaqua AQX, IPfolio or Questel Equinox, which treat docketing as one module inside a wider IP platform.
- Migration is the hidden project: Alt Legal includes data migration and training free, while enterprise platforms typically scope it as a paid implementation.

The best trademark docketing software
A missed trademark deadline can kill a registration outright. A blown renewal or Section 8 filing usually cannot be fixed with an apology and a late fee, which is why trademark teams pay for software whose entire job is watching dates. These eight tools cover the real market, from $60-a-month plans for solo practitioners to enterprise platforms that manage hundreds of thousands of records.
#1
Alt Legal
Best for: Trademark-focused law firms and legal departments that want docketing automation
Visit altlegal.com
Starting price$60/month (docketing for up to 50 matters; trademark protection add-on $30/month)
Free planFree trial (no permanent free plan)
Alt Legal is the trademark specialist of this list. Its docketing engine connects directly to the USPTO and CIPO, so filings appear automatically, statuses update on their own, and deadlines are docketed and cleared as the office acts. For the other 180-plus jurisdictions it pulls data through a third-party provider. Reporting is genuinely one click, and the smart email templates plus calendar sync keep clients and foreign counsel in the loop without manual work.
The commercial terms are unusually buyer-friendly for legal software. Pricing is per matter, not per user, so a five-person team pays the same $60 base as a solo practitioner for up to 50 matters. Migration, training and support cost nothing extra, and the month-to-month contract with a 30-day money-back guarantee removes the usual switching risk. The honest catch is scope: if your docket is half patents, AppColl or Anaqua will feel more complete.
What we like- Direct USPTO and CIPO connections auto-update matters and deadlines across 180+ jurisdictions
- Matter-based pricing with unlimited users, free migration and free training
- Month-to-month terms with a 30-day money-back guarantee
Watch out for- Built for trademarks first, so patent-heavy practices get less depth
- Costs rise with matter count, which punishes large portfolios
#2
AppColl
Best for: Small and mid-size IP firms that want docketing, billing and practice management in one
Visit appcoll.com
Starting price$100/user/month (PM Pro, billed monthly, includes 200 matters)
Free planFree trial (30 days, per reviewers)
If your practice handles patents alongside trademarks, AppColl stretches a dollar further than most. PM Pro at $100 per user per month covers docketing for US patents and trademarks, matter management, billing with LEDES invoicing, document storage and prior art tracking. PM Plus at $130 adds automation: auto-docketing of US patent matters, automatic XML downloads from Patent Center, automated email intake and QuickBooks Online and DocuSign integrations.
The appeal for smaller firms is consolidation. Instead of paying separately for docketing software, a billing system and a document store, one subscription covers all three, with CSV import and export in every module so your data never gets trapped. Implementation averages around two months according to user reviews, so plan the migration quarter accordingly. Trademark-only boutiques may find Alt Legal or IPzen more focused, but mixed practices get real value here.
What we like- Published per-user pricing with 200 matters included on both paid tiers
- Billing, invoicing and trust accounting built in, not bolted on
- Direct integrations with USPTO Patent Center, TSDR and EPO Espacenet
Watch out for- Reviewers describe the interface as dated and some workflows as hard to discover
- The product heritage is patent-leaning, so trademark-first teams should demo that module carefully
#3
Anaqua AQX
Best for: Large corporate IP departments managing global portfolios
Visit anaqua.com
Starting priceSee website (custom quote)
Free planNo
Anaqua plays in a different league from everything above it. AQX is built for corporate IP departments at the scale of top-100 US patent filers and global brands, where the portfolio spans tens of thousands of assets across dozens of jurisdictions. The platform combines docketing with invention disclosure management, annuity and renewal workflows, cost forecasting and portfolio analytics, plus AI features that process communications, extract data and draft summaries.
For trademark teams inside those organizations, the value is having marks managed next to patents in one system with one set of reports for leadership. Anaqua also offers PATTSY WAVE for law firms, so firms serving enterprise clients can align on the same vendor. The tradeoff is everything enterprise: custom quotes, scoped implementations and a product whose depth you pay for whether you use it or not. Firms under 20 people should not start here.
What we like- End-to-end platform covering patents, trademarks, designs, domains and agreements with AI-assisted workflows
- Direct patent office connectivity for data accuracy and compliance
- Scales to the largest portfolios with advanced analytics and dashboards
Watch out for- Enterprise sales process with no published pricing
- Implementation is a project, not a signup, which rules out small teams
#4
IPzen
Best for: Firms and legal departments that want transparent pricing and European hosting
Visit ipzen.com
Starting price2,500 euros/year excl. VAT (Trademark Edition, 500 files, 2 users)
Free planFree trial
IPzen is the European answer to trademark docketing, built by IP practitioners and explicit about what it costs. The Trademark Edition starts at 2,500 euros per year excluding VAT for 500 files and two users, scaling to 3,500 for 1,000 files and 5,000 for unlimited files. Every tier includes the dashboard, trademark application tracking, document management, deadline tracking and client directory, with invoicing as an optional module.
The hosting story matters to compliance-minded buyers: encrypted virtual machines, dedicated databases and continuous backups across two EU data centers. Deadline tracking consolidates oppositions, renewals, affidavits and issue dates in one agenda with filters, and the multi-criteria search handles large portfolios well. The mandatory training fee is the one surprise, so add 500 euros to year-one math. For US firms with EU clients or GDPR concerns, the hosting alone can justify the shortlist spot.
What we like- Fully published pricing tiers by file volume and user count, rare in this category
- Data hosted in Paris and Amsterdam data centers with encrypted virtual machines
- Trademark-first design with agenda, deadline tracking and integrated invoicing
Watch out for- Euro-denominated pricing adds FX uncertainty for US buyers
- Onboarding requires mandatory paid training (500 euros excl. VAT for two sessions)
#5
Dennemeyer DIAMS
Best for: Enterprises that want IP software from a vendor that also handles filings and renewals
Visit dennemeyer.com
Starting priceSee website (custom quote)
Free planNo
Dennemeyer sells software the way a law firm sells counsel: as part of a services relationship. DIAMS iQ is the full IP management suite for corporations and law firms, with DIAMS U positioned as the simpler plug-and-play alternative for teams replacing spreadsheets. Both sit on a country-law rules engine that calculates maintenance deadlines automatically, and the portfolio can connect to Dennemeyer's own renewal, annuity and filing services.
That bundling is the pitch. If you already outsource patent annuities or trademark renewals, running the docket in the same vendor's system removes handoffs and reconciliation. The honest catch is the technology generation: DIAMS iQ's smart client runs on Windows with SQL Server behind it, and while a hosted option exists, it is not the browser-native experience that Alt Legal or IPzen deliver. Buyers who want pure software without services attached will find cleaner fits elsewhere.
What we like- Six decades of IP services behind the software, so renewals, annuities and recordals can run through the same vendor
- DIAMS iQ for complex needs and DIAMS U as a lighter out-of-the-box option
- Country law engine with automatic due-date calculation
Watch out for- The classic DIAMS client is Windows-based, which feels legacy next to cloud-native rivals
- Pricing is entirely quote-based and the sales motion is services-led
#6
IPfolio by Clarivate
Best for: Corporate IP teams that want Clarivate's data and services inside their docketing tool
Visit clarivate.com
Starting priceSee website (custom quote)
Free planNo
IPfolio is Clarivate's cloud bet for corporate IP teams, positioned as the premier platform in a lineup that also includes Memotech, FoundationIP and Inprotech. It centralizes patents, trademarks, designs and copyrights with automated docketing, due-date calculation, document management and dashboards, and it plugs into the data assets that make Clarivate valuable: Derwent patent data, CompuMark trademark data and Darts-ip case law.
The strategic argument is consolidation of vendor relationships. A team already paying for CompuMark watches or Clarivate annuity services gets docketing that shares data with those services instead of duplicating it. Recent enterprise adoptions, including large Japanese manufacturers moving off on-premises systems, suggest the platform is winning migrations. The price of admission is opacity: everything is quoted, implementations are scoped, and small teams will find the sales process heavy for what they need.
What we like- Cloud-native platform with workflow automation, docketing and country-law deadline tracking
- Native access to Clarivate data sources including Derwent, CompuMark and Darts-ip
- Backed by Clarivate's IP services for annuities, renewals and searches
Watch out for- No published pricing and an enterprise sales cycle
- The broader Clarivate portfolio means matching the right product (IPfolio vs. Memotech vs. FoundationIP) takes guidance
#7
Questel Equinox
Best for: Law firms and corporates wanting an IPMS wired into IP services
Visit questel.com
Starting priceSee website (custom quote)
Free planNo
Questel's Equinox wants to be the hub your whole IP operation runs through. The pitch is connectivity: automated docketing and deadline management wired to Questel's IP Services Portal, renewal ordering, the Markify clearance and watch platform and Orbit patent data, with AI features layered on for office-action responses, document extraction and portfolio analysis. Editions split by audience, with EQ Law Firm and EQ Corporate variants including a Salesforce-built Corporate+ tier.
For trademark teams, the practical win is ordering a watch or a renewal without leaving the docketing system and having the results flow back into the matter record. Onboarding is handled by an experienced team, which matters because migrations from legacy systems or spreadsheets are where these projects usually stall. Like its enterprise peers, Equinox is quote-only, so treat the demo as the start of a procurement process and get the services pricing in the same conversation as the software pricing.
What we like- AI-assisted docketing with integrations to patent and trademark offices plus Questel's Orbit and Markify data
- Direct connectors to Questel services for renewals, filings and translations
- Trusted by more than 1,000 law firms and corporations
Watch out for- No published pricing
- The ecosystem pitch means the full value arrives when you buy into Questel services, not just the software
#8
Corsearch
Best for: Brand-driven organizations that need clearance, watching and portfolio management together
Visit corsearch.com
Starting priceSee website (custom quote)
Free planNo
Corsearch comes at trademarks from the brand-protection side rather than the docketing side. Its TrademarkNow platform handles the full lifecycle from name generation and AI-assisted screening through clearance searching, watching and enforcement, and the newer Zeal platform extends into marketplace monitoring and anti-counterfeiting. For a brand team, that means the same vendor that clears a mark can watch it and take down infringing listings.
As a docketing replacement it is the loosest fit on this list, and buyers should be clear-eyed about that. Corsearch is strongest where trademark work meets brand risk: screening at scale, global watch programs and enforcement. If your need is deadline tracking for a prosecution docket, the specialists above do it more directly. If your need is protecting a portfolio of consumer brands across marketplaces and domains, Corsearch's breadth is the point.
What we like- TrademarkNow platform brings AI-powered clearance, screening and watching into one workflow
- 75-year history in trademark research with analyst expertise behind the technology
- Brand protection and content protection extend coverage past registration
Watch out for- Services-led model with custom pricing, so software costs are hard to isolate
- Less of a pure docketing tool than the specialists above
What to check before you buy trademark docketing software
Start with data connections, because they decide how much manual entry survives. The best tools maintain direct connections to the USPTO and CIPO and pull the rest of the world through a data partner, updating statuses and clearing deadlines automatically. Ask each vendor which offices are direct, which are partner-fed and how often records refresh. A tool that only calculates deadlines from data you type in is a calendar with legal branding.
Next, pin down the pricing model against your real numbers. Matter-based pricing (Alt Legal, IPzen) favors teams with many users and moderate portfolios. Per-user pricing (AppColl) favors small teams with large dockets. Quote-only enterprise tools can be cost-effective at scale but demand a full procurement cycle, so get services, migration and training priced in the same quote. Finally, run a migration trial with a slice of your actual data before signing: docketing migrations fail on dirty data, not on software, and the vendors that include migration free are telling you something about where the risk sits.
How trademark docketing pricing works
Three models dominate. Matter-based pricing charges by docketed records: Alt Legal starts at $60 per month for 50 matters, IPzen at 2,500 euros per year for 500 files. Per-user pricing charges by seat: AppColl starts at $100 per user per month with 200 matters included. Enterprise pricing is custom: Anaqua, Dennemeyer, IPfolio, Questel and Corsearch all quote based on portfolio size, modules and services.
Watch the add-ons that change the total. Trademark watch and monitoring are often separate products: Alt Legal prices its trademark protection add-on from $30 per month on top of docketing. Training ranges from free (Alt Legal) to mandatory and paid (IPzen, 500 euros). Migration ranges from included (Alt Legal) to a scoped line item (enterprise vendors). And contract terms vary from month-to-month (Alt Legal) to annual with auto-renewal (most enterprise tools). Model three years, not year one: matter counts grow, and the pricing model that looks cheap at 200 records can look very different at 2,000.
How we chose
We started with the searches buyers actually run: trademark docketing software, IP docketing software and trademark management software. For each candidate we opened the vendor's own site and pricing page, checked published prices against reviewer-reported figures on G2, Software Advice and Software Finder, and compared USPTO data automation, jurisdiction coverage, trademark depth and company-size fit. Where a vendor publishes no price we wrote "See website" rather than repeating estimates. WebTMS was dropped from the shortlist after its 2026 acquisition by Alt Legal made its standalone future unclear.
Frequently asked questions
How much does trademark docketing software cost?
Published prices run from $60 per month (Alt Legal, up to 50 matters) to $100 per user per month (AppColl PM Pro) to 2,500 euros per year (IPzen Trademark Edition). Enterprise platforms from Anaqua, Dennemeyer, Clarivate, Questel and Corsearch are custom-quoted and typically run into five figures annually once services and implementation are included.
What is the difference between docketing software and IP management software?
Docketing software focuses on deadlines: calculating due dates, tracking renewals and alerting the right people. IP management software does that plus portfolio strategy, document management, billing, analytics and often patent workflows. Alt Legal and IPzen sit closer to the docketing end; Anaqua, IPfolio and Equinox are full IP management platforms.
Do I need direct USPTO integration?
It is the single biggest time saver in this category. Direct USPTO and CIPO connections mean new filings appear automatically and deadlines update as the office acts, instead of relying on manual entry. Alt Legal, AppColl and Corsearch all offer it in some form. If a vendor cannot describe its data connections clearly, keep shopping.
Can this software handle international trademarks?
The specialists cover 180-plus jurisdictions through data partnerships, with direct connections usually limited to the USPTO and CIPO. Confirm that your specific countries are covered before buying, and ask how deadline rules are maintained for each jurisdiction. Country-law engines (Dennemeyer, IPfolio, Equinox) are the enterprise answer to this problem.
How long does it take to migrate to a new docketing system?
Alt Legal reports most migrations complete within a week of receiving data, and includes migration free. AppColl users report around two months for implementation. Enterprise platforms scope migration as a project phase measured in months. Whatever the vendor claims, trial the migration with real data before you commit.
