The best ETRM software

ION has assembled the industry's largest ETRM portfolio by acquiring the category's historic names: Openlink, Allegro, Triple Point, Aspect, and Brady now sit under one roof, alongside ION's own trading and risk technology. For large energy companies and commodity trading houses, that means one vendor relationship can cover deal capture, risk, logistics, and compliance across every desk.
The honest trade: consolidation is both the strength and the question. Customers inherit breadth but should ask which product line fits their book and what the roadmap means for their deployment. If you are a major trading house or utility with complex multi-commodity needs, ION's scale is unmatched. Smaller firms will find the sales process heavy.
What we like- The deepest product bench in the industry
- Covers front to back office
- Proven at the largest trading houses
Watch out for- Enterprise sales and implementation cycles
- Product consolidation means migration questions
- Pricing is opaque

Quoreka, formerly Eka Software, is the cloud-native operating system for commodity-driven businesses: CTRM and ETRM together with stockyard, warehouse, and supply chain management on a single platform. Trading houses, producers, and processors get deal capture through physical settlement without stitching systems together. The rename from Eka to Quoreka reflects the expanded ambition beyond classic CTRM.
The honest note: mention the old name once and move on; the platform is what matters. Quoreka's strength is breadth across the physical value chain, which pure trading systems lack. Companies with mines, terminals, or warehouses as well as trading desks should evaluate it against the narrower tools.
What we like- Unifies CTRM, ETRM, logistics, and supply chain on one platform
- Cloud-native and purpose-built
- One source of truth from deal to settlement
Watch out for- The Eka rebrand is still bedding in
- Enterprise pricing
- Smaller analyst footprint than ION

Molecule is the ETRM built for the way energy trades now: cloud-native, multi-tenant, with automated deal capture from exchanges, spreadsheets, and APIs, near real-time position, exposure, and P&L, and support for 50+ commodities from power and renewables to crude and crypto. Customers report position reporting refreshing every five to ten minutes and settlement processes collapsing from a day to seconds.
The honest framing: Molecule wins on speed of implementation and usability, with no forced upgrades and no dedicated IT needed. It is not the choice for the most exotic derivatives books yet. For power, gas, renewables, and mid-size commodity portfolios, it is the most modern option in this list.
What we like- Multi-tenant cloud with near real-time P&L and risk
- Supports 50+ commodities
- Intuitive interface traders actually like
Watch out for- Younger than the enterprise incumbents
- Complex derivatives coverage still growing
- SOC-certified but newer track record

Murex's MX.3 is the capital markets platform that banks and energy majors run their trading, treasury, risk, and post-trade operations on. With more than 60,000 daily users across 60 countries, it handles the complex derivatives, structured products, and regulatory demands that commodity specialists sometimes struggle with. Energy and commodities sit alongside rates, credit, and FX in one risk framework.
The honest catch: Murex is a capital markets platform that covers energy, not an energy platform that covers capital markets. Pure physical traders will find it heavy and expensive. Institutions that trade energy alongside financial instruments, with serious derivatives books, get the deepest risk engine available.
What we like- MX.3 is the leading cross-asset capital markets platform
- 60,000+ daily users in 60+ countries
- Deep in derivatives and risk
Watch out for- Institutional pricing and implementation
- Energy is one asset class among many
- Overkill for pure physical trading

Gen10 has spent 25 years building commodity management for physical traders: its CommOS platform captures every contract, movement, cost, and document once, producing real-time position, P&L, and compliance evidence as a by-product of the workflow. The new NaNi conversational AI interface lets traders query live positions and P&L in plain language. Energy, metals, and ags traders across 150+ projects run on it.
The honest note: Gen10 speaks the language of physical trading, quality clauses, logistics, and origin traceability, better than most. Financial trading depth is thinner. For physical energy and commodity businesses that live and die by movements and inventory, it is a specialist worth serious attention.
What we like- 25 years of physical commodity expertise
- CommOS single source of transaction truth
- Chat-driven AI interface (NaNi)
Watch out for- Physical-commodity focus means less financial depth
- Boutique scale vs. the giants
- AI features are new

Inatech delivers cloud-based ETRM and fuel management for the hydrocarbon value chain: crude, refined products, marine fuels, and renewable fuels, with solutions like Techoil for dispatch and Bunkertech for marine fuel procurement. Trusted by 100+ energy companies including majors, it combines trading and risk with the operational realities of fuel logistics.
The honest framing: Inatech's sweet spot is fuels, from trading desks to bunker buyers and fuel distributors. Power and gas traders have better-fitting options elsewhere. But if your business moves physical fuel, the combination of ETRM and fuel operations in one cloud platform is genuinely differentiated.
What we like- Cloud-native ETRM for crude, refined, marine, and renewables
- Strong fuel and bunkering specialization
- 100+ energy companies as customers
Watch out for- Fuel-market flavor may not suit power traders
- Mid-size vendor scale
- Pricing not public

FIS brings bank-grade fintech scale to energy trading and risk management through its Aligne platform: trade capture, risk, and settlement for energy and commodity markets, backed by one of the world's largest financial technology companies. Institutions that already run FIS for banking, payments, or treasury get a single vendor relationship.
The honest catch: FIS's homepage sells the whole fintech empire, and energy trading is one corner of it. Pure-play ETRM vendors live and breathe this market; FIS brings it scale and stability. Energy desks inside banks and large corporates with existing FIS relationships are the natural fit.
What we like- Global fintech scale and stability
- Aligne ETRM for energy and commodities
- Deep regulatory and treasury expertise
Watch out for- FIS is vast and energy is one division
- Enterprise sales complexity
- Less ETRM-specialized than pure plays

Enverus is the energy industry's dedicated SaaS platform: 25+ years of vetted data and research, analytics, and a unified trading workflow platform that connects insight to action. Its PRISM platform and Instant Analyst AI put market intelligence inside the trading workflow rather than beside it. The company describes itself as 100% dedicated to energy.
The honest note: Enverus leads with data and intelligence, with trading workflow as the connective tissue, rather than as a classic deal-capture-to-settlement ETRM. For traders whose edge is fundamental insight, that combination is powerful. Pure risk-management buyers should compare the depth against Molecule or ION.
What we like- The energy-dedicated SaaS platform with 25+ years of vetted data
- Unified trading workflow tools
- AI analyst for instant answers
Watch out for- Data and intelligence first, ETRM second
- Upstream oil and gas heritage
- Pricing not public

Trayport's Joule platform is the infrastructure European energy trading runs on: connecting market participants across 20 venues, with over 620 million trades executed through Trayport in 2025, nearly 20 trades every second. It provides the trading screen, price discovery, and straight-through processing connectivity that every European power and gas desk depends on.
The honest framing: Trayport is market infrastructure, not a complete ETRM system. You still need position, risk, and settlement software alongside it. But no serious European energy trader operates without Trayport access, which makes it an essential companion to whichever ETRM you choose.
What we like- The connectivity backbone of European energy trading
- 620M+ trades executed in 2025
- 2,000+ traders across 20 venues
Watch out for- Market access and connectivity, not full ETRM
- European focus
- Owned by TMX Group
How we chose
We verified each tool's current homepage by opening the live site and using the final resolved URL. Two changes came from that verification: Eka Software has rebranded to Quoreka, so we list it under its current name and URL, and Beacon has been acquired by Clearwater, so we replaced it with Inatech per our merger rule. Allegro, Triple Point, Aspect, and Brady were not listed separately because ION acquired them. No vendor publishes starting prices, so all are listed as "See website". We reviewed product pages and public documentation. We did not test any tool hands-on.
What to evaluate in an ETRM demo
Your actual book, not the vendor's slides
Bring your real trades, your trickiest instruments, and your nastiest reconciliation problem to the demo. Ask the vendor to load your book and produce a risk report live. The difference between a slick presentation and a working system shows up in the first hour.
Implementation and upgrade reality
ETRM projects fail on implementation, not features. Ask for reference customers of your size and complexity, the average implementation timeline, and how upgrades work. Molecule's multi-tenant cloud eliminates forced upgrades entirely; traditional vendors vary widely.
The consolidation question
With ION absorbing most of the historic names and Beacon joining Clearwater, ask every vendor about their roadmap and independence. A great product with an uncertain future is a risk your auditors will notice. Prefer vendors with clear investment in the energy product line.
The state of ETRM in 2026
The category is consolidating at the top and modernizing at the edges. ION now owns most of the legacy market, which gives large customers a single throat to choke but fewer real choices. Meanwhile, cloud-native challengers like Molecule, Quoreka, and Gen10 are winning the implementations where speed and usability matter. AI is entering through interfaces like Gen10's NaNi and Enverus's Instant Analyst rather than as a bolt-on. For buyers, the practical upshot: the safest choice and the most modern choice are no longer the same vendor.
Frequently asked questions
What is ETRM software?
Energy Trading and Risk Management software captures energy trades, tracks positions and P&L, calculates risk, and manages settlement and compliance. It replaces the spreadsheets and manual processes that trading desks historically relied on, giving front, middle, and back offices one system of record.
How much does ETRM software cost?
No major ETRM vendor publishes starting prices; all are quote-based and typically run into six or seven figures annually for enterprise deployments. Implementation, market data feeds, and integration add to the license cost. Get detailed quotes from at least three vendors.
What happened to Allegro, Openlink, and Triple Point?
ION acquired all of them, along with Aspect and Brady. They continue as product lines within ION's portfolio. Existing customers should clarify their product's roadmap with ION directly.
What is the difference between ETRM and CTRM?
ETRM (Energy Trading and Risk Management) focuses on energy commodities like power, gas, and renewables. CTRM (Commodity Trading and Risk Management) covers all commodities including metals and agriculture. Many vendors, like Quoreka and Gen10, handle both.
Is there a cloud-based ETRM?
Yes. Molecule, Quoreka, Gen10, and Inatech are cloud-native or cloud-first, offering faster implementation and no forced upgrades. ION, Murex, and FIS offer cloud and hosted options alongside traditional deployments.
Which ETRM is best for a small trading shop?
Molecule is the most approachable for smaller and mid-size firms, with cloud delivery and fast implementation. Gen10 suits physical traders. The enterprise vendors (ION, Murex, FIS) are generally priced and structured for larger organizations.
