How we make this list: we compare pricing pages, product documentation and public user reviews. Rankite is independent; if a vendor ever pays for a featured spot, that listing is clearly labeled Partner.
Online stores live or die on repeat buyers, and repeat buyers are won or lost in the support inbox. A generic helpdesk can answer emails, but an e-commerce support platform pulls the order, the tracking number, the subscription status and the return eligibility into the same screen the agent is already looking at. That difference shows up in first-reply times and in how many tickets get resolved without a second message.
The category has also changed shape in the last two years. Almost every platform now ships an AI agent that tries to resolve tickets on its own, and the pricing models around those agents vary wildly: per resolution, per conversation, or bundled into the seat price. A store doing a few hundred tickets a month faces a very different bill than one doing tens of thousands, even on the same platform. The nine tools below cover the full range, from free live chat for a new store to enterprise suites for brands with support teams in the dozens.

We review this list regularly. Vendors can request a listing, send updated pricing or ask about featured placement.
We started with platforms that show real e-commerce depth: native integrations with Shopify, WooCommerce, BigCommerce or the major marketplaces, and order context visible to agents without tab-switching. General helpdesks only made the list if they are widely used by online retailers and bring something the specialists do not, such as enterprise reporting or AI at scale. We excluded single-channel chat widgets with no ticketing, internal IT service desks, and tools without a credible e-commerce customer base. Pricing notes reflect the vendor's published plans where we could confirm them; where pricing is quote-based or changes frequently, we say so instead of guessing.
Match the platform to where your tickets actually come from. A Shopify-only DTC brand gets the most from Gorgias or Richpanel; a marketplace seller belongs on eDesk; an enterprise with SLAs and compliance needs belongs on Zendesk or Kustomer. Then model the true cost: multiply seats by the plan price, add the AI resolution fees at your real conversation volume, and ask what happens to the bill in your peak month. Run the trial on live tickets, not a sandbox, and measure first-reply time and one-touch resolution rather than feature checklists. Finally, confirm the integrations you depend on are native and maintained, because a broken Shopify sync will cost more than any subscription.
