Fill in a question, an accepted answer and any suggested answers to generate valid QAPage schema.org JSON-LD, ready to paste into your page.

Your QAPage JSON-LD

Paste this inside a script tag with type application/ld+json in your page head. Only use QAPage on a real question and answer page, not a curated FAQ list, which should use FAQPage instead.

QAPage versus FAQPage

These two schema.org types look similar but describe different content. FAQPage is for a curated list of questions and answers that you, the site owner, wrote, like a support or pricing FAQ. QAPage is for a single question with one or more answers submitted by different people, the structure of a forum thread or a community Q&A page, where an accepted answer is chosen from possibly several suggested ones. Using QAPage on a page that is really just your own FAQ list misrepresents the content.

What this generator includes

The output nests a Question inside mainEntity, with an acceptedAnswer and, if you filled them in, one or more entries in suggestedAnswer, matching the structure Google's documentation describes for QAPage. Optional fields, like the question's author, an answer's author, and upvote counts, are only included when you provide them, keeping the output free of empty or placeholder values.

Before you publish this markup

Structured data should describe content that actually exists and is visible on the page, in the same form. Only mark up a real question with real answers from real users, since search engines can take action against structured data that misrepresents a page's content, and rich result eligibility for QAPage can also depend on factors beyond valid markup, like the page's overall quality and how the question and answers are presented visually.

FAQ

Q&A Schema Generator: questions, answered

What is QAPage schema used for?
QAPage is a schema.org type for a page built around a single question with one or more community submitted answers, the pattern used by forums and Q&A sites. Marking it up correctly can make a question and its accepted answer eligible for a rich result in Google Search.
How is QAPage different from FAQPage?
FAQPage is for a list of questions and answers curated by the site itself, like a support page. QAPage is for one question that received multiple answers from different people, with one marked as accepted, the structure of a forum thread rather than a written FAQ.
Do I need suggested answers, or is an accepted answer enough?
An accepted answer alone is enough to produce valid QAPage markup. Suggested answers are optional and represent other answers submitted for the same question that were not selected as the accepted one.
What does answerCount represent?
It is the total number of answers associated with the question, calculated here as the accepted answer plus however many suggested answers you filled in. It should reflect the real number of answers visible on the page.
Is this data sent to a server when I use the generator?
No. The JSON-LD is built entirely in your browser from the fields you fill in. Nothing is uploaded, logged or stored, and the output only leaves your browser when you copy and paste it yourself.
