What this checker actually validates

This tool runs two layers of checks. First, it confirms the pasted text is valid JSON, catching stray commas, unmatched braces and unquoted keys that would silently break the block on your live page. Second, for common schema.org types, Article, Product, FAQPage, LocalBusiness, Organization, Review, BreadcrumbList and several others, it checks for the specific fields search engines and AI crawlers typically expect to see, flagging anything missing so you can fix it before it goes live.

Syntax errors vs missing fields

A syntax error means the JSON itself cannot be parsed at all, usually a missing closing brace, a trailing comma, or a quote that was not escaped, and it will stop the entire block from being read as structured data. A missing-field warning is different, the JSON is valid, it just does not include a property that is commonly expected for that @type, which can mean your page qualifies for a weaker rich result or none at all rather than failing outright.

Use this alongside Google's own tools

This checker is meant for a fast, offline first pass while you are still writing or editing a schema block. Once it comes back clean, it is still worth running the live URL through Google's Rich Results Test, since Google's own tool checks eligibility for specific rich result types and reflects any additional requirements that change over time.

FAQ

JSON-LD Schema Checker: questions, answered

What is JSON-LD and why does it matter for SEO?
JSON-LD is a way of writing structured data, machine-readable facts about a page, as a single script block instead of scattering extra markup through the visible HTML. Search engines use it to understand entities like articles, products, FAQs and reviews well enough to sometimes show richer results, like star ratings or FAQ dropdowns, directly in search.
Why does my schema look correct but still fail somewhere?
Valid JSON syntax does not guarantee a rich result. A block can parse perfectly and still be missing a field that a specific rich result type requires, or the values in it might not match what is actually visible on the page, which is a separate content-matching requirement that a syntax and field checker like this one cannot fully verify.
Does this tool check every schema.org type?
It checks required-style fields for the most commonly used types on the web: Article and its subtypes, Product, Offer, FAQPage, HowTo, LocalBusiness, Organization, Review, AggregateRating, BreadcrumbList, Event, VideoObject, Recipe, WebPage, Person and JobPosting. Less common types are still checked for valid JSON, @context and @type, just without type-specific field checks.
Can I paste multiple schema blocks at once?
Yes. Paste a JSON array of objects, or a single object that uses @graph to bundle several types together, and each item is checked individually in the results.
Is anything I paste here sent to a server?
No. Parsing and validation both run entirely in your browser using JavaScript's built-in JSON parser, nothing you paste is uploaded, logged or stored anywhere.
