Twitter/X Thread Splitter: Turn Long Text Into a Numbered Thread

How the split works

The tool reads your pasted text as a stream of words and fills each post up to your character limit without ever cutting a word in half. When numbering is turned on, it reserves enough room for the biggest suffix your thread will need, something like (12/12), before it does the split, so a post never comes back over the limit once the numbering is added. If a single word is longer than your limit, which is rare outside of URLs, it gets broken at the character level so the thread does not stall.

Why clean breaks matter

A thread that splits mid-sentence or mid-word reads badly and looks careless, especially on a platform where every post stands alone in someone's timeline. This tool breaks on word boundaries only, and you can lower the character limit if you want extra room to manually clean up a break point, add an image, or leave space for a link. Numbering is optional: some people prefer bare posts and let the reply structure carry the thread instead.

Using it well

Paste a blog intro, a script, or notes from a call, and treat the output as a first draft rather than a finished thread. The tool guarantees every post fits the limit; it does not know which sentence makes the strongest opening line or where a natural cliffhanger sits. Read through the generated posts and reorder or trim the first one so it hooks a reader scrolling past, then post the rest as generated.
