Teachable sells four plans: Starter at $39 a month ($29 billed annually), Builder at $89 a month ($69 annually), Growth at $189 a month ($139 annually), and a custom-priced Custom tier for larger schools, per Teachable's own pricing page. Only the Starter plan charges a platform transaction fee, 7.5% on every paid sale; Builder, Growth and Custom all charge 0%.
Every Teachable plan runs payments through Teachable.pay, powered by Stripe, which charges 2.9% plus $0.30 for US credit and debit cards, 3.9% plus $0.30 for international cards, 3.49% plus $0.49 for US PayPal, and 4.99% plus $0.49 for international PayPal. These processing costs apply regardless of plan and stack on top of the Starter plan's 7.5% transaction fee, or apply alone on the fee-free plans.
The gap between Starter and Builder is $50 a month on the monthly billing cycle. Since Starter's transaction fee is 7.5% of every sale, that fee equals $50 once monthly course revenue reaches roughly $667, meaning a creator selling more than that each month is effectively paying more in transaction fees than the price difference to Builder, which has no transaction fee at all.
