A random line picker takes a list, one item per line, and pulls out a random selection for you. It is the honest way to run a giveaway draw, assign a task, choose a winner, or just break a tie without anyone accusing you of picking a favourite. Paste your list, decide how many to draw, and the tool shuffles fairly in your browser and shows the result.

How the random draw works

With repeats turned off, the tool shuffles your whole list using a Fisher-Yates shuffle, the standard method that gives every ordering an equal chance, then takes the number you asked for from the top. Because it is a true shuffle, no item can be drawn twice, which is exactly what you want for a giveaway with unique winners.

With repeats allowed, each pick is an independent random choice from the full list, so the same line can come up more than once. That mode suits things like assigning a random prompt each round, where drawing the same option twice is fine.

Common uses for a line picker

Giveaway and raffle winners from a list of entrants, a random name for who goes first, splitting a group by drawing names, sampling a handful of rows from a longer list to spot check, or picking a random idea from a brainstorm. Anywhere you would otherwise write names on paper and pull them from a hat, this does the same job faster and in full view.

Is it fair and private?

The draw uses your browser's built-in random number generator and a proven shuffle, so the result is unbiased for everyday use. Nothing is uploaded: your list stays on your device, which matters when the entries are real people's names or email addresses.

Picking a winner is luck. Winning organic traffic is not. If you want a repeatable system for growth rather than a roll of the dice, request a free SEO audit and we will show you the plays that work.

FAQ

Random Line Picker: questions, answered

How do I pick a random line from a list?
Paste your list into the box with one item on each line, set how many items you want to draw, then press the pick button. The tool selects at random and shows the result instantly. You can draw a single winner or several at once, and copy the picks with one click.
Can I stop the same item being picked twice?
Yes. Leave the repeats setting on No repeats, the default, and the tool shuffles the whole list and draws unique items, so nothing can appear more than once. Switch to Allow repeats only if you want each draw to be independent and the same line to be able to come up again.
Is the random pick actually fair?
Yes for everyday use. The no-repeats mode uses a Fisher-Yates shuffle, the standard algorithm that gives every possible ordering an equal chance, combined with your browser's random number generator. That is more than fair enough for giveaways, draws, and choosing who goes first.
What happens if I ask for more picks than the list has?
With repeats off, the tool simply returns every item in a random order, since it cannot draw more unique items than exist, and tells you it did so. With repeats allowed, it keeps drawing until it has the number you asked for, so you can request any count you like.
Is my list kept private?
Yes. The tool runs entirely in your browser and never uploads or stores your list. That is important when your entries are real names or email addresses, because the data never leaves your device. Closing the tab clears everything.
