NAP consistency is one of the quieter local SEO factors, and one of the easiest to let slip as a business changes phone systems, moves suites, or gets listed by a directory that never asked for permission. This checker compares your name, address and phone across as many listings as you paste in, so you can find the ones that are dragging on your local rankings.
Search engines use citations, meaning mentions of your business name, address and phone across the web, as a trust signal when deciding how to rank local businesses in the map pack. When the same business shows a different suite number on one directory and an old phone number on another, it creates doubt about which version is accurate, and that doubt can quietly suppress local visibility even when everything else about the listing is strong. Consistency does not need to be perfect on every obscure directory, but it does need to be right on the sources that carry real weight.
Different directories format the same information differently, and a useful checker should not flag harmless formatting as an error. This tool strips punctuation and extra spacing and ignores capitalization when comparing your name and address, and it compares phone numbers by their digits alone, so (214) 898-9895, 214-898-9895 and 214.898.9895 all register as the same number. What it does flag is a genuine difference underneath that formatting, such as an old suite number, a dropped digit in a phone number, or a shortened business name that does not match your canonical version.
Once you know which listings are inconsistent, prioritize by weight rather than working alphabetically through every result. Google Business Profile, Bing Places, Apple Maps and the major review sites in your industry matter far more than a low-traffic directory that will never send a customer. Update the canonical listing first, then request the correction on each secondary source, since some directories pull data from aggregators and will self-correct over time once the source data is fixed.
