Google Play's standard 15%/30% tiers

Outside the US, UK and EEA, Google Play charges eligible developers 15% on the first $1 million of annual earnings, stepping up to 30% once earnings pass that threshold within the same calendar year. Auto-renewing subscriptions are billed at a flat 15% regardless of a developer's annual earnings, unlike one-time purchases which follow the tiered structure.

The 2026 billing-choice model for the US, UK and EEA

Starting June 30, 2026, Google restructured its fees for developers serving the US, UK and EEA. Purchases processed through Google Play Billing carry a reduced service fee (as low as 10% for many developers) plus a separate 5% fee for using Google's billing system. Developers who route payment through an external web link instead skip the billing fee entirely but pay a different flat rate. Both the service fee and the external link rate can vary by program participation, so treat the defaults here as a starting point.

What this calculator simplifies

Google's official fee tables also distinguish between apps with installs from before and after specific 2026 program dates, a distinction this calculator does not model since it depends on account-specific history. For an exact contractual rate, check the Google Play Console billing settings for your account.

FAQ

Google Play Store Fee Calculator: questions, answered

What is Google Play's standard service fee?
15% on the first $1 million of a developer's annual earnings (for most markets outside the US, UK and EEA), rising to 30% on earnings above that threshold. Subscriptions are a flat 15% regardless of earnings.
What changed for US, UK and EEA developers in 2026?
Starting June 30, 2026, Google introduced a billing-choice model: a reduced base service fee plus a separate 5% fee for using Google Play Billing, or a different flat rate for developers who route payments through an external web link instead.
What is the 5% Google Play Billing fee?
It is a fee Google added on top of its reduced base service fee, charged specifically for the convenience of using Google's own in-app billing and payment system in the US, UK and EEA.
Does using an external web link avoid Google's fees entirely?
No. It avoids the 5% Google Play Billing fee specifically, but Google still charges a separate flat fee on purchases made through an external web link.
Does the $1M threshold reset every year?
Yes. Eligible developers get the reduced 15% rate on the first $1 million of earnings in each calendar year, and the rate reverts to the reduced tier again at the start of the next year.
