A backlink is a link from one website to another. Search engines treat backlinks as votes of confidence: when a trusted site links to a page, it passes along some of that trust, which helps the page rank. For each link, the tool shows the site it comes from, the anchor text used, and whether the link is dofollow or nofollow. Check your own domain to see who links to you and how strong those links are, then check competitors to find sites that link to them but not yet to you. Those linking sites are prime targets for your own outreach, since they already link to others in your space. This is one of the most reliable ways to find realistic link building opportunities.
