Putting a list in alphabetical order by hand is slow and easy to get wrong, especially once it runs past a dozen items or mixes capital and lowercase letters. This tool sorts any list you paste, one item per line, into clean alphabetical order, A to Z or Z to A. It can ignore capitalisation so uppercase words do not jump to the top, and strip out duplicates in the same pass.

How to alphabetize a list

Paste your list with each item on its own line, then choose the direction: A to Z for standard order or Z to A to reverse it. The sorted result appears immediately and updates whenever you change an option, so you can experiment without re-pasting.

By default the tool ignores case, which is what most people expect: apple, Banana, and cherry sort as a-b-c rather than sending every capitalised word to the front. Turn that option off if you specifically want a case-sensitive sort where capitals come first.

Sort and remove duplicates at once

Long lists pasted from different sources often carry duplicates. Tick the remove duplicates option and the tool keeps only the first occurrence of each item before sorting, so your final list is both ordered and unique. When ignore case is on, entries that differ only in capitalisation are treated as the same item.

Everything stays in your browser

The sort runs locally with plain JavaScript. Your list is never uploaded or saved, so you can safely alphabetize names, emails, keywords, or any private data. It is instant even for long lists.

Sorting a keyword list is the easy part. Turning those keywords into pages that rank is where the value is. If you want help with that, request a free SEO audit and we will show you where to focus.

FAQ

Alphabetical Order Tool: questions, answered

How do I put a list in alphabetical order?
Paste your list into the box with one item per line and choose A to Z. The tool sorts the lines instantly and shows the ordered result below, which you can copy with one click. Change the direction to Z to A at any time to reverse the order.
Does it sort with capital letters mixed in correctly?
Yes. By default the tool ignores case, so a list like apple, Banana, cherry sorts in true a-b-c order rather than pushing all the capitalised words to the top. If you need a strict case-sensitive sort where uppercase letters come first, switch off the ignore case option.
Can it remove duplicates while sorting?
Yes. Turn on the remove duplicates option and the tool keeps only the first occurrence of each item, then sorts what remains, so your final list is both alphabetical and free of repeats. With ignore case on, items that differ only in capitalisation count as duplicates.
Can I sort a list from Z to A?
Yes. Select the Z to A option and the tool reverses the alphabetical order, listing items from the end of the alphabet to the start. All the other options, ignore case and remove duplicates, work the same way in either direction.
Is my list sent to a server?
No. The sorting runs entirely in your browser with plain JavaScript, so your list never leaves your device and nothing is stored. That makes it safe to alphabetize private data such as names, email addresses, or unpublished keyword lists.
