How we make this list: we compare pricing pages, product documentation and public user reviews. Rankite is independent; if a vendor ever pays for a featured spot, that listing is clearly labeled Partner.
Key takeaways
- Wistia (free plan) and Vimeo (free; Starter $12/month annually) are the default hosts for marketing teams: branded players, lead capture and analytics without ads.
- Vidyard and Loom (free Starter; Business $18/user/month) win for personal video: sales outreach, demos and async updates that plain hosting cannot do.
- Dacast (Starter $25/month) is the affordable live-streaming pick; Brightcove, SundaySky and TwentyThree are quote-based enterprise platforms.
- Your choice hinges on one question: do you need hosting, creation, personalization or live streaming? Each family has a different winner.
Video marketing software is not one product. It is four jobs that happen to involve cameras: hosting videos on your site, creating them fast, personalizing them at scale, and streaming them live. A platform that excels at one usually charges enterprise prices for the others. The nine tools below are organized by the job they do best, with verified prices and the limits that matter.
#1
Wistia
Best for: Marketing teams that want branded video hosting with lead capture
Visit wistia.com
Starting priceSee website (free plan; Business and Enterprise paid tiers)
Free planYes
Wistia defined the "video for marketers" category: ad-free hosting where the player carries your brand, videos gate behind email capture, and analytics tie views to contacts. The free plan covers getting started; Business and Enterprise tiers add capacity, seats and features. Because pricing is not published, budget planning needs a call with their team, which is the main friction point against Vimeo's transparent pricing.
The honest tradeoff is scope. Wistia hosts, brands and measures video better than almost anyone, but it is not an editor and not a webinar platform. Teams that need creation buy a second tool; teams that need live streaming do too. Choose Wistia when your website is the distribution channel and the goal is leads, not views.
What we like- Player and brand controls built for marketers, not developers
- In-player CTAs, email gates and turnstile lead capture
- Clean analytics showing who watched what
Watch out for- The vendor does not publish plan prices, so comparison requires a sales conversation
- Hosting-first, so creation and editing tools are thin
#2
Vimeo
Best for: Teams that want transparent pricing and ad-free hosting with strong privacy
Visit vimeo.com
Starting priceFree; Starter $12 per month (billed annually)
Free planYes
Vimeo is the value pick for hosted video: a free plan with no ads, Starter at $12 per month annually with 2TB storage, Standard at $25 with lead capture and CTAs, and Advanced at $75 with live event hosting. The pricing page lays it all out, which makes budgeting easy and comparison shopping honest. Privacy controls, custom branding and review tools are solid across the paid tiers.
The marketing depth is good but not best-in-class. Wistia's lead-capture workflow and analytics are more marketer-shaped; Vimeo's feel like hosting features with marketing added. Live streaming exists on Advanced but is not the product's center. For most small and mid-size teams, Vimeo's price-to-feature ratio is the best on this list: start free, upgrade when you need lead capture.
What we like- Clear published pricing: Free, Starter ($12), Standard ($25), Advanced ($75) per month annually
- No ads on any plan, including free
- Strong privacy controls and 4K playback
Watch out for- Marketing features (lead capture, CTAs) sit on Standard and above
- Enterprise support is thinner than Brightcove's
#3
Vidyard
Best for: Sales and marketing teams using personal video for outreach
Visit vidyard.com
Starting priceSee website (free plan; per-seat licensing on paid tiers)
Free planYes
Vidyard's core insight is that the best-performing marketing video is often a person talking to a camera. The platform makes recording, sharing and tracking personal videos frictionless, with integrations into HubSpot, Salesforce, Salesloft and the rest so engagement data flows back to the CRM. A free plan covers basic recording; paid tiers use per-seat licensing with the Starter tier billed by credit card. Video hosting, hubs and AI-generated avatars round out the product.
The pricing opacity is the complaint: with no public numbers, you cannot benchmark Vidyard against Loom without a sales call. And as a pure hosting platform it trails Wistia and Vimeo. Buy Vidyard when your motion is outbound and personal: SDRs sending video prospecting, AEs sending follow-ups, marketers building video hubs. It is a sales tool that does video, not a video tool that does sales.
What we like- Personal video recording built for sales workflows with CRM integrations
- Video hubs for branded content libraries
- AI avatars and automation for scaling outreach
Watch out for- No published prices, so every evaluation goes through sales
- Hosting features are secondary to the recording workflow
#4
Brightcove
Best for: Enterprises and media companies needing broadcast-grade streaming at scale
Visit brightcove.com
Starting priceSee website (custom quote; solution packs per use case)
Free planNo
Brightcove is the infrastructure pick: when millions of people need to watch without buffering, this is the platform behind a large share of them. Media Studio handles monetized content, Marketing Studio powers brand video, Communications Studio covers internal video, and Beacon builds OTT apps. APIs, SDKs and integrations cover web, mobile and connected TV. Pricing is entirely custom, built around solution packs and scale.
Small teams should not be here. Brightcove sells through sales, onboards like an enterprise vendor, and prices like one. The value appears at scale: global CDN delivery, DRM and content protection, live events with millions of concurrent viewers, and monetization tooling. If your streaming bill of materials includes "must not fail during the Super Bowl," Brightcove is the shortlist. Everyone else should buy simpler.
What we like- The most proven platform for high-volume, high-reliability streaming
- Full API/SDK coverage and OTT app building
- Solution packs for media, marketing and internal comms
Watch out for- Enterprise-only pricing with no public numbers and a sales-led process
- Overkill and overpriced for small marketing teams
#5
SproutVideo
Best for: Businesses that want secure, ad-free hosting with strong privacy controls
Visit sproutvideo.com
Starting priceSee website (30-day free trial)
Free planNo
SproutVideo's pitch is control: your videos play where you allow, for whom you allow, with no ads and no algorithmic neighbors. Privacy tools run deep, from password protection and domain whitelists to viewer login accounts and geo restrictions. Every plan includes lead capture, in-player CTAs, marketing integrations and a customizable video website. A 30-day free trial covers the evaluation.
The friction is commercial, not technical. Plan prices were not visible on the pricing page during our research, which makes comparison shopping harder than it should be. And the ecosystem is smaller: fewer integrations, fewer templates, less community content than the big two. Choose SproutVideo when video security and privacy are the deciding factors: training libraries, paid content, internal communications that must not leak.
What we like- Privacy-first hosting: domain whitelists, login protection, SSO and signed embeds
- Built-in video websites and landing pages
- Lead capture and marketing integrations on every plan
Watch out for- The vendor's pricing page did not show plan prices in our check, so verify current rates before budgeting
- Smaller ecosystem than Vimeo or Wistia
#6
Loom
Best for: Teams creating screen recordings, demos and async video updates fast
Visit loom.com
Starting priceFree (Starter); Business $18 per user per month
Free planYes (Starter: 25 videos, 5-minute recordings)
Loom owns the async video workflow: record your screen and camera, share a link, get comments. The free Starter plan covers 25 videos at 5 minutes each, enough for real use. Business at $18 per user per month removes the limits and the Loom branding; Business + AI at $24 adds auto summaries, chapters, filler-word removal and meeting recaps. Enterprise is custom-quoted.
Do not confuse Loom with a marketing host. There is no branded player strategy, no lead capture, no video SEO: it is a communication tool that happens to produce video. That is exactly why marketing teams love it for the top of the funnel: product demos, personalized outreach, internal reviews of creative. The per-user pricing means a 50-person team pays real money, so scope the seats to creators, not viewers.
What we like- Fastest path from "I need to show this" to a shared video
- Generous free Starter plan
- AI features (summaries, chapters, filler removal) on Business + AI at $24/user/month
Watch out for- Built for screen recording, not cinematic marketing: no branded player or lead capture depth
- Paid tiers are per-user, which adds up for large teams
#7
Dacast
Best for: Businesses that need affordable live streaming with monetization
Visit dacast.com
Starting price$25 per month (Starter)
Free planNo (14-day free trial, no credit card required)
Dacast is the pragmatic live-streaming pick: real published pricing, a white-label player, and monetization (pay-per-view, subscriptions) that the marketing hosts charge far more for. The Starter plan at $25 per month gets you streaming with 10GB of bandwidth on the trial; higher tiers add capacity. Overage protection and bandwidth rollover keep the billing predictable. Monthly billing requires a three-month minimum, which is the main contractual catch.
What Dacast is not: a marketing platform. There are no nurture campaigns, no lead scoring, no video SEO tooling. It streams your events, monetizes them, and hosts the replays. For churches, course creators, event companies and businesses running paid webinars, that is exactly the job. Pair it with your existing marketing stack rather than expecting it to become one.
What we like- Published pricing starting at $25 per month with a 14-day trial
- Pay-per-view and subscription monetization built in
- White-label player with no ads
Watch out for- Marketing features are thin: it is a streaming platform, not a marketing suite
- Monthly plans require a three-month minimum commitment
#8
SundaySky
Best for: Enterprises that need personalized video at scale for CX and marketing
Visit sundaysky.com
Starting priceSee website (demo-based, enterprise pricing)
Free planNo
SundaySky does one thing nobody else on this list does well: render a unique video for every viewer from their data. Name, account details, usage, renewal date: each viewer gets a version made for them. The platform targets customer experience, onboarding, retention and acquisition use cases at enterprise scale, with compliance controls that satisfy financial services and healthcare. Pricing is entirely quote-based after a demo.
The honest assessment: most teams do not need this. Personalized video pays off when you have large customer bases and data worth personalizing with: banks, insurers, telecoms, large SaaS companies. The cost and implementation effort reflect that. If your video strategy is "make good videos people watch," buy Wistia or Vimeo. If it is "make every customer feel like the video was made for them," SundaySky is the specialist.
What we like- The category leader in data-driven 1:1 video personalization
- Built for regulated industries with SOC 2, HIPAA and GDPR posture
- AI video tools with brand governance
Watch out for- Enterprise-only: no public pricing, no self-serve tier
- Overkill unless personalization is a core strategy
#9
TwentyThree
Best for: European and global companies wanting an all-in-one video marketing platform
Visit twentythree.com
Starting priceSee website (demo-based pricing)
Free planNo
TwentyThree claims, with some justification, to have created the video marketing platform category back in 2016. The product covers the full stack: video hosting, webinars, personal video recording, and analytics, plus newer AI and agentic video features. Video SEO is a genuine strength. Every customer gets a dedicated client director and specialist, which is rare at this price point. Pricing is quote-based after a demo.
The tradeoff is reach and transparency. The company is strongest in Europe, and US buyers will find a thinner partner ecosystem and fewer peer reviews. The all-in-one pitch also means each module is good rather than best: Wistia hosts better, Vidyard records better, Dacast streams cheaper. Choose TwentyThree when you want one vendor, one contract and one team for all of video, and you value the white-glove service model.
What we like- True all-in-one: hosting, webinars, personal video and analytics in one platform
- Strong video SEO tooling
- Dedicated client team rather than chatbot support
Watch out for- Demo-led pricing with no public numbers
- Strongest in Europe, thinner presence elsewhere

Picking by the job, not the brand
The fastest way to choose is to name the job. If the job is "host videos on our website that generate leads," the shortlist is Wistia, Vimeo and SproutVideo. Wistia has the best marketer-shaped workflow but hides its prices; Vimeo has the best transparent pricing; SproutVideo has the best privacy controls. If the job is "salespeople sending personal videos," it is Vidyard versus Loom: Vidyard is the sales-native platform, Loom is the faster and cheaper recorder.
If the job is "stream events to an audience," Dacast is the affordable answer and Brightcove is the enterprise one, with Vimeo Advanced covering the middle. If the job is "every customer gets a video made from their data," SundaySky stands alone. And if the job is "one vendor for all of it," TwentyThree is the all-in-one bet. Two tools from different families is a normal, healthy stack: many teams run Wistia for hosting plus Loom for recording, or Vimeo for hosting plus Dacast for events. Do not pay enterprise prices for the family you do not need.
How we chose
We started with the searches buyers run: video marketing platform, business video hosting, video hosting for marketing. For each candidate we opened the vendor's official homepage and pricing page, checked which of the four jobs (hosting, creation, personalization, live) the product is built around, and compared pricing transparency and company-size fit. Where the vendor published no prices we wrote "See website." We replaced one merged product with a current independent platform.
The video metrics that actually matter
Most video analytics are vanity: view counts and play rates tell you almost nothing about revenue. The metrics worth tracking start with engagement depth: what percentage of viewers finished, and where did the rest drop off. A video that loses half its audience in ten seconds has a hook problem, not a distribution problem. Next is conversion: for gated videos, the email capture rate; for CTAs, the click rate. These connect video to pipeline.
Then comes attribution honesty. A viewer who watched a demo video and bought six weeks later was influenced, not necessarily converted, by the video. Report influenced pipeline separately from sourced pipeline, and do not let any vendor's dashboard claim full credit for every touch. Finally, track production cost per video against its results. A $5,000 brand film that generates 200 qualified views is a worse investment than a $200 Loom demo that generates 50. The platforms on this list give you the data; the discipline is yours.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between video hosting and a video marketing platform?
Hosting stores and plays videos (Vimeo, Wistia, SproutVideo). A video marketing platform adds the marketing layer: lead capture, CTAs, CRM integration, analytics tied to contacts, and often creation or webinar tools. Pure hosts are cheaper; platforms cost more because they connect video to revenue.
Do I still need YouTube if I buy one of these?
For reach, yes; for business video, usually no. YouTube is a discovery channel with ads and algorithmic neighbors. These platforms host the videos on your site with your branding, no ads, and viewer data you own. Most teams use both: YouTube for reach, a private host for the website and funnel.
How much does video hosting cost for a small business?
From free: Wistia, Vimeo and Loom all have real free plans. Paid hosting starts at $12 per month (Vimeo Starter) to $25 per month (Vimeo Standard, Dacast Starter). Personal video tools run $18 per user per month (Loom Business). Enterprise platforms are quote-based and start far higher.
Which platform is best for webinars?
None of these is primarily a webinar tool, but Dacast and Vimeo Advanced handle live streaming well, and TwentyThree includes webinars in its all-in-one stack. For dedicated webinar marketing (registration pages, reminders, polls), pair a streaming host with a webinar specialist or your marketing automation platform.
Can I gate videos behind email capture?
Yes on most marketing-focused platforms: Wistia (turnstile), Vimeo (Standard and above), SproutVideo and Vidyard all offer email gates. Gate mid-funnel content (demos, webinars, deep dives) and leave top-of-funnel content open. Gating everything kills reach; gating nothing wastes intent data.
