How we make this list: we compare pricing pages, product documentation and public user reviews. Rankite is independent; if a vendor ever pays for a featured spot, that listing is clearly labeled Partner.

We review this list regularly. Vendors can request a listing, send updated pricing or ask about featured placement.
We started with the products that appear consistently in workforce management and contact center software comparisons from analysts and review platforms, then filtered for tools that are still live and fit scheduling specifically. Two acquisitions shaped the list: Playvox was acquired by NICE and folded into its WFM offering, so we replaced it with Dialpad, and Calabrio merged into Verint in 2025, so we replaced it with NICE IEX Workforce Management. We also kept only tools with real, currently published products rather than legacy install-base software.
Pricing was taken from each vendor's own pricing page where published, and marked as quote-based where the vendor publishes no numbers. Free trial availability comes from vendor pages and established review sources. We did not run hands-on tests; these comparisons reflect published product information and market reputation.
Start with what you already run. If your contact center sits on NICE CXone, Genesys, Talkdesk or Five9, the workforce management module inside that platform is usually the cheapest path to good scheduling, because the data is already there. The exception is when your platform's WFM tier is expensive relative to what you need; at that point a standalone tool can be cheaper even with an integration in between.
If you do not have a WFM module or your current ACD is fine but your scheduling is not, the standalone options split into two camps. NICE IEX and Alvaria Workforce are the heavy-duty specialists for large, complex or regulated operations, bought through enterprise sales cycles. Assembled is the modern, transparently priced alternative for digital support teams, and Dialpad's built-in WFM is the pragmatic pick if Dialpad is already your communications platform.
Budget-wise, expect a wide spread: Assembled starts at $25 per agent per month with published pricing, while the suite vendors gate their scheduling features behind tiers from $165 to $209 per agent per month, or quote-based enterprise deals. Before signing anything, run the free trial where one exists, and test the one thing that matters most: whether the tool's forecasts match your actual demand.
Workforce management covers the full cycle: forecasting demand, scheduling agents, monitoring real-time adherence and managing performance. Scheduling software is the slice of WFM that creates and manages shifts. Most tools on this list do full WFM, which is what contact centers actually need.
Published pricing ranges from $25 per agent per month for Assembled to $169 and above for suite tiers that include WFM. Many enterprise tools are quote-based, so expect the final number to depend on seat count, contract length and which modules you include.
None of the nine tools on this list offers a free plan. Four offer free trials, and the enterprise suites evaluate through demos. For genuinely free options you would need general shift-scheduling tools, which lack contact center forecasting.
It depends on the tool. Standalone products like NICE IEX are built to connect with third-party ACDs. Suite products like Talkdesk or Five9 schedule best inside their own platforms. Check the integration list during evaluation.
Modern WFM tools use machine learning across dozens of models and claim meaningful accuracy gains over spreadsheet methods. Accuracy still depends on clean historical data, so the trial is the place to validate against your own volumes.
