8 Best Agentic Customer Service Software: 8 Tools Compared

Key takeaways

  • Intercom Fin is the transparent start: $0.99 per outcome when it runs on another helpdesk, with procedures you write in plain language and a published price anyone can model.
  • Zendesk AI agents charge $1.50 per automated resolution on a committed basis, on top of Suite seats from $55 per agent per month, the natural choice inside Zendesk.
  • Salesforce Agentforce charges $2 per conversation and suits Salesforce shops; Decagon and Sierra are the enterprise builders, quote only, with reported floors from six figures a year.
  • Agentic tools resolve simple, well documented contacts. They do not replace agents on complex or emotional cases, and every resolution rate quoted in this space is a vendor defined, vendor measured number.

The best agentic customer service software in 2026

#1

Intercom Fin

Best for: Per outcome agent on any helpdesk
4.5/5 on G2 (2,900 reviews, checked Oct 2026)
Visit intercom.com
Starting price$0.99 per outcome
Free planNo

Fin is the category's benchmark because it publishes a price and a mechanism. You write procedures, Fin follows them across your systems, and you pay $0.99 when it resolves a conversation, nothing when it hands over. That structure aligns the meter with the value better than per conversation billing does, and Fin's deployment count gives its guardrails a testing base the startups cannot match.

The trade is ownership change and definition trust. Salesforce's agreed acquisition of Intercom, reported at about $3.6 billion in June 2026, should make enterprise buyers ask about the product roadmap in writing. And per outcome billing still rests on the vendor's resolution detector. Fin offers dispute paths and verification; use them, sample the transcripts, and keep your own resolution measure.

What we like
  • Published per outcome pricing, billed only when Fin resolves, with a cap of one charge per conversation, runs on Intercom or as a layer on Zendesk, Salesforce, HubSpot and other helpdesks, procedures written in plain language, and a large public evidence base from thousands of deployments
Watch out for
  • Seat costs on Intercom stack on top of the outcome fee, outcome is defined by Fin's own resolution logic, so audit the definition before scaling, Salesforce agreed to acquire Intercom in 2026, which long term buyers should factor into roadmap risk
#2

Zendesk AI Agents

Best for: Zendesk shops automating resolutions
Visit zendesk.com
Starting price$1.50 per automated resolution
Free planNo

For a team already running Zendesk, this is the shortest path to an agent that acts. The AI agents live in the same workspace, use the same knowledge and triggers, and charge per automated resolution, with committed volumes at $1.50 and dual verification added so a billed resolution has been checked twice.

The trade is lock in, priced in advance. The meter sits on top of per agent Suite pricing, so your AI bill and your seat bill grow together, and the whole asset, procedures, tuning, resolution history, stays inside Zendesk. That is a fair deal for committed Zendesk shops and a poor one for anyone platform shopping.

What we like
  • Native inside Zendesk, so no new platform to buy or learn, $1.50 per automated resolution on committed plans, with pay as you go higher, generative procedures and actions into connected systems, Zendesk added dual verification of billed resolutions in 2026
Watch out for
  • Requires Suite seats from $55 per agent per month before the AI meter starts, per resolution allowances and packs need modelling to avoid overage surprises, value drops sharply if you ever leave Zendesk
#3

Salesforce Agentforce

Best for: Salesforce service organisations
4.3/5 on G2 (1,464 reviews, checked Oct 2026)
Visit salesforce.com
Starting price$2 per conversation
Free planNo

Agentforce is the agentic layer of the Salesforce estate: build agents in its builder, ground them in your CRM data, and let them act across service, sales and commerce workflows. For organisations whose customer record lives in Salesforce, no integration project stands between the agent and the data.

The trade is the meter. At $2 per conversation, Agentforce bills for tries as well as finishes, unlike per outcome rivals, so a deployment with a modest resolution rate pays for the failures too. Model it on your own queue mix, keep the agent's scope narrow at first, and let the Foundations credits fund the experiment before the contract funds the rollout.

What we like
  • Agents built directly on Salesforce data and workflows, so actions land in the system of record, published pricing at $2 per conversation or via flex credits, a free Foundations tier lets Salesforce customers start, voice agents included in the platform story
Watch out for
  • Per conversation billing charges for conversations the agent escalates, value depends on the depth and cleanliness of your Salesforce data, total cost with Service Cloud licences is an enterprise conversation, not a line item
#4

Decagon

Best for: Enterprises tying agents to core systems
4.8/5 on G2 (29 reviews, checked Oct 2026)
Visit decagon.ai
Starting priceSee website
Free planNo

Decagon sells to enterprises that want the agent wired into the systems where work happens: commerce, subscriptions, logistics, account management. Its selling point is control, procedures your team authors in plain English, plus simulation tooling that replays changes against real historical tickets before customers see them.

The trade is price and commitment. There is no public number, estimates vary wildly between guides, and the implementation is a project with your name on it. Decagon earns its place on shortlists above roughly twenty thousand conversations a month. Below that, the helpdesk native agents in this list deliver most of the value for a fraction of the contract.

What we like
  • Built around Agent Operating Procedures written in natural language, which operations teams can read and edit, strong voice and chat coverage with cross channel memory, simulation and QA tooling, Watchtower, for testing changes on historical tickets before release
Watch out for
  • Quote only pricing, with third party estimates putting base contracts from roughly $50,000 to well into six figures a year, a sales led implementation measured in weeks, serious overkill below enterprise contact volumes
#5

Sierra

Best for: Premium branded consumer agents
4.5/5 on G2 (131 reviews, checked Oct 2026)
Visit sierra.ai
Starting priceSee website
Free planNo

Sierra is what large consumer brands buy when the agent is part of the brand experience: a named, carefully voiced agent, built with the vendor's team, acting in the systems of record and priced mostly on outcomes. Its customer list and compliance stack are the strongest signals of seriousness in this young category.

The trade is the entry ticket. Six figure floors and a long build put Sierra beyond mid market reach, and the white glove model means your agent's quality depends on a vendor relationship as much as on software. If the queue is a brand asset and the budget is real, Sierra belongs in the final two. Otherwise it is a reference point, not an option.

What we like
  • The premium brand in the category, with agents tuned to a company's voice across chat, messaging, email and voice, outcome based pricing on most deals, strong certification and compliance posture for regulated buyers, a white glove build and tuning service
Watch out for
  • Quote only, with reported floors from about $150,000 a year, implementation runs six to ten weeks with a serious internal commitment, the polish is wasted on low value or low volume queues
#6

Ada

Best for: Large operations running their own agent
4.6/5 on G2 (173 reviews, checked Oct 2026)
Visit ada.cx
Starting priceSee website
Free planNo

Ada's position is control: where Sierra and Decagon send a team to build your agent, Ada hands your CX organisation the tools, reasoning controls, coaching workflows, testing, and lets you run it. For large operations with an existing automation team, that ownership compounds.

The trade is effort and the meter. Owning the agent means owning its failures, tuning and roadmap, and Ada's traditional per conversation pricing means the bill includes the contacts the agent could not finish. Large teams with the staff to run it get a durable asset; lean teams should buy outcomes instead.

What we like
  • A mature platform aimed at CX teams who want to build and coach the agent themselves, with a coaching loop for feeding corrections back into behaviour, covers chat, email and voice with strong multilingual support, long enterprise track record from the chatbot era into the agent era
Watch out for
  • Quote only pricing, historically per conversation, which bills escalations too, platform depth means a real enablement effort for your team, less public resolution evidence than Fin publishes
#7

NiCE Cognigy

Best for: Voice and contact centre AI agents
4.6/5 on G2 (13 reviews, checked Oct 2026)
Visit cognigy.com
Starting priceSee website
Free planNo

Cognigy built its reputation on voice: agents that hold a phone conversation, authenticate a caller and complete transactions, integrated with the contact centre stack. Inside NiCE, it anchors the AI layer of one of the largest contact centre vendors in the world.

The trade is scope. If your agentic problem is mostly phone calls at enterprise volume, Cognigy is a natural finalist. If your problem is chat and email on a helpdesk, the helpdesk native agents here are lighter, cheaper and faster to value.

What we like
  • Deep contact centre heritage with strong voice agent capability, now inside the NiCE portfolio, agent building with low code tooling plus developer depth, suited to telephony heavy operations and regulated industries
Watch out for
  • Quote only enterprise pricing, the platform is a bigger system than chat led teams usually need, value depends on contact centre integration work
#8

Kore.ai

Best for: Enterprise agent platform with industry packs
4.6/5 on G2 (507 reviews, checked Oct 2026)
Visit kore.ai
Starting priceSee website
Free planNo

Kore.ai sells a platform, not a point solution: one agent framework for customer service, employee support and process automation, with industry templates and the deployment options, cloud, hybrid, on premise, that enterprise IT requires.

The trade is focus. A service leader who needs a queue resolved this quarter will move faster with a native agent. An enterprise architect standardising agents across the company may rationally choose Kore.ai and accept the slower start. Know which buyer you are before the demo.

What we like
  • A broad enterprise agent platform with prebuilt packs for banking, healthcare and retail, multi model and on premise options that regulated IT teams ask for, covers service, employee and process agents in one platform
Watch out for
  • Quote only pricing, breadth brings implementation complexity, the service specific polish of Fin or Zendesk AI is traded for platform range

How we chose

We picked platforms whose AI agents take real actions in business systems, not chatbots that only answer questions, and weighted published pricing, the billing unit, guardrail and QA tooling, and public evidence of production deployments. Pricing rests on vendor pages and current comparisons; quote only platforms are marked See website rather than estimated as fact, though third party ranges are noted as estimates. We did not claim hands-on testing, and resolution rate claims anywhere in this category are vendor defined and vendor measured, so we treated them as marketing, not evidence.

The billing unit is the product

Strip the demos away and agentic service software differs in one commercial fact: what trips the meter. Per outcome pricing, Fin and most Sierra deals, charges when the agent finishes the job. It is the cleanest alignment and the hardest to game, provided the resolution definition is written into the contract and you can dispute charges with transcript evidence.

Per resolution pricing inside a helpdesk, Zendesk's model, is the same idea with a landlord: fair meter, but seats and packs frame the total. Per conversation pricing, Agentforce and classic Ada deals, charges for attempts. At a 40 percent resolution rate, a $2 conversation costs $5 per actual resolution, which is how apparently cheap meters become expensive programmes. Always convert every quote to cost per verified resolution on your own queue mix before comparing.

Then negotiate the definition. What counts as resolved: the customer confirming, no reply within a window, no reopened ticket in 7 days, 30 days? Each definition moves the rate several points. Ask for simulation on your historical tickets, a pilot on one contact type, and a cap on the first term. The vendors in this list will all agree to a measured pilot for a serious buyer; a vendor that will not is telling you something.

Last, staff the gap honestly. An agent that resolves half your contacts leaves the harder half, and concentrates them. Your human team gets smaller and more senior, handling angry, complex and regulated cases all day. Budget for that team, its training and its burnout, because the agent does not replace judgement; it promotes the people who have it.

Frequently asked questions

What makes software agentic rather than a chatbot?

An agentic system takes supervised action in your other systems: it checks the order, changes the plan, issues the refund, updates the record, following procedures you define. A chatbot answers. The difference matters commercially and legally, because an agent can make mistakes with consequences, which is why guardrails, testing and approval limits matter more than conversational polish.

How accurate are vendor resolution rates?

Treat them as marketing until verified on your tickets. Vendors define resolution themselves, often count no reply as resolved and report their best contact types. The honest measure is your own: run a simulation or pilot, sample transcripts weekly, and track reopened contacts and repeat contacts, which expose resolutions that were not.

Per outcome or per conversation pricing, which is better?

Per outcome is usually fairer, because you do not pay for escalations. Per conversation can still win at very high resolution rates or where conversations are cheap relative to your average resolution value. Convert both to cost per verified resolution on your own data before deciding; the headline rates are not comparable across models.

Will an AI agent replace my support team?

No, and planning as if it will is the common failure. Agents absorb simple, repetitive, well documented contacts. What remains is complex and emotional work that needs experienced people. Most successful deployments end with a smaller, more senior team and better response times on hard cases, not an empty office.

What guardrails should I require before launch?

Written procedures with clear escalation triggers, spending and refund limits the agent cannot exceed, simulation against historical tickets, transcript level audit and dispute tools for billed resolutions, and a kill switch your team controls. If a vendor resists any of these, the demo was the product.
