Your channel's About description does two jobs: it's what a new visitor reads to decide whether to subscribe, and it's text YouTube's search and recommendation systems use to understand what your channel is about. This tool generates three lengths, since different placements need different amounts of text.
The short version is what shows in YouTube search results and channel previews before someone clicks through, so it needs to say what your channel is about in well under 100 characters. The medium version works well for the channel trailer caption or a social bio link. The full version is the actual About page, where you have room to be thorough.
Using the same one-liner everywhere either wastes the extra space YouTube gives you on the About page, or overloads a short preview with too much text to read at a glance.
Your niche or topic phrase appears in all three versions here, which matters because YouTube does use channel description text as one signal for understanding what your content covers and who might be interested in it. That's different from stuffing it in repeatedly, which reads poorly and doesn't help.
Say what you actually post, honestly and specifically. "Brewing tutorials, gear reviews and roast breakdowns" tells both a viewer and YouTube's systems far more than "videos about coffee."
The generated text is a strong starting point, but a complete About page usually also includes contact information for business inquiries and links to your other channels or website, which YouTube gives you dedicated fields for below the description.
Update the upload schedule line whenever your actual posting cadence changes, an About page that says "every Tuesday" when you haven't posted in months reads as an abandoned channel to both viewers and YouTube.
