Enter your monthly organic traffic and the average CPC for the keywords driving it. You can add up to three segments; leave a row's traffic at 0 to ignore it.

The formula behind organic traffic value

The calculation is deliberately simple: multiply your monthly organic traffic by the average cost per click you would otherwise pay to rank for the same terms in paid search, then add it up across as many traffic segments as you want to model. If different groups of keywords carry very different CPCs, for example branded terms against competitive commercial terms, splitting them into separate rows gives a far more honest total than blending everything into one average.

Why this number is worth tracking

Organic traffic value reframes SEO in a language that budget holders already understand: dollars. It will not appear on an invoice and it is not the same as revenue, but it puts a concrete floor under the value of your rankings and makes it easier to justify continued investment in content, technical SEO and link building compared to an equivalent paid search spend.

What this number does not tell you

This calculator answers what your traffic would cost to buy, not what it is actually worth to your business, since that also depends on your conversion rate and average order or deal value. It also assumes you could reliably win those same paid clicks at the CPCs you enter, which is not guaranteed once real advertisers start bidding against you. Treat the result as a useful proxy for reporting, not a substitute for tracking actual conversions and revenue from organic traffic.

FAQ

Organic Traffic Value Calculator: questions, answered

How is organic traffic value different from organic traffic itself?
Organic traffic is a count of visits. Organic traffic value converts that count into a dollar figure by multiplying it by the cost per click you would pay to get the same visits through paid search, which makes the number easier to compare against an ad budget.
Where do I get the CPC figures to enter?
Google Ads Keyword Planner, your own past paid search campaigns, or a keyword research tool are the most reliable sources. If you cannot find an exact figure, a reasonable estimate for your industry's average CPC is better than leaving it blank.
Should I use total site traffic or traffic to a specific page?
Either works, as long as the CPC you enter matches the keywords actually driving that traffic. Calculating this per page or per topic cluster, rather than for the whole site at once, usually gives a more accurate and more useful number.
Does this calculator account for clicks I would not actually win in paid search?
No. It assumes every one of your organic clicks could be replaced one for one by a paid click at the CPC you enter, which will not always be realistic once competing advertisers are factored in. Use the result as a directional benchmark, not an exact prediction.
Does this tool store or send my traffic numbers anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser using the numbers currently in the fields. Nothing is saved, uploaded or sent anywhere, and refreshing the page resets it to the example values.
