What E-E-A-T actually measures

E-E-A-T stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trust, the framework Google's search quality raters use to judge whether content deserves to rank, particularly for topics that affect a reader's health, finances or safety. It is not a single algorithmic score you can retrieve from Google, but the individual signals behind it, author credentials, cited sources, real firsthand experience, a secure and transparent site, are all things you can audit and improve directly.

How this checklist score is calculated

Each of the 20 checklist items is worth 5 points, split evenly across the four E-E-A-T pillars, so a page that checks every box scores 100 and a page with no visible signals scores 0. The even weighting is a simplification since Google does not publish exact weights for these signals, but it gives you a fast, honest snapshot of where a page is strong and where it has obvious gaps.

What to do with a low score

A low score is not a penalty, it is a punch list. Start with the items that are cheapest to fix, adding a real author bio, linking to an About and contact page, publishing a privacy policy, before moving on to harder signals like earning citations from other reputable sites or building a genuine track record of published, reviewed content in your niche.

FAQ

E-E-A-T Score Checker: questions, answered

Is this the actual E-E-A-T score Google uses?
No. Google does not expose a numeric E-E-A-T score, and this is not a machine analysis of your live page. It is a self-assessment checklist built from the signals Google's own search quality rater guidelines describe, scored evenly for a fast, practical snapshot.
Why are all four categories weighted equally?
Google has not published exact weights for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trust, so splitting the 100 points evenly across the four pillars keeps the scoring simple and transparent rather than guessing at a more complex formula.
Do I need to check every single box to rank well?
No. Plenty of pages rank well without a perfect score, especially for topics that do not touch health, finance or safety. Treat a lower score as an area to strengthen over time, not a hard requirement for every page.
Can I use this for someone else's page, not just my own?
Yes. Run through the checklist against any page you can see, your own site, a competitor's, or a client's, to compare how thoroughly each one demonstrates real experience and trust.
Does this tool save or send my answers anywhere?
No. Every checkbox and the resulting score are calculated entirely in your browser. Nothing is saved, uploaded or sent anywhere, and refreshing the page resets every box to unchecked.
