Best Courier Dispatch Software in 2026: 8 Tools Compared

Key takeaways

  • Most small courier teams land on one of three: Routific ($150/month flat for up to 1,000 orders, free under 100), Detrack Pro ($29 per driver per month) or Spoke Dispatch Starter ($125/month for 1,000 stops).
  • Billing models decide the bill: per-task (Onfleet, Tookan), per-driver (OptimoRoute, Detrack, Track-POD) and per-stop or per-order (Spoke, Routific) behave very differently as you grow.
  • Onfleet is the heavyweight at $619 per month to start, with the courier-specific client portal and invoicing as a $299 per month add-on.
  • Route4Me no longer publishes pricing, so get a written quote before comparing it against the transparent vendors on this list.

The best courier dispatch software

Your dispatcher starts the day with 300 stops, 8 drivers and a spreadsheet that was outdated before the coffee finished brewing. By noon two drivers are off route, one customer is asking where their package is, and nobody can prove the 11:40 delivery happened at all. Courier dispatch software exists to end that morning: it plans the routes, tracks the drivers, notifies the customers and captures the proof, all in one place. These eight platforms cover the real market, from $29 per driver to $619 per month, with the pricing math worked out for each.

#1

Onfleet

Best for: Mid-size to enterprise delivery operations running high task volumes
Visit onfleet.com
Starting price$619/month (Launch plan, 2,500 tasks)
Free planNo (14-day free trial)
Onfleet homepage

Onfleet is the enterprise-grade pick for operations that measure volume in thousands of tasks. Launch covers 2,500 tasks per month with basic route optimization, proof of delivery and API access, and every plan includes unlimited users so dispatchers and managers never add to the bill. The standout for courier companies is the Courier Suite add-on at $299 per month, which brings client portals, order intake and invoicing for 3PL-style work.

The catch is the price ladder. Scale at $1,349 per month is where the genuinely useful features live: advanced optimization, auto-dispatch, barcode scanning and the Command Center. Launch customers run on basic routing. Unused tasks do not roll over, so model your monthly volume carefully before committing.

What we like
  • Task-based pricing with unlimited users on every plan
  • Auto-dispatch, barcode and ID scanning on Scale and above
  • Multi-brand and multi-region support on Enterprise
Watch out for
  • The highest entry price on this list by a wide margin
  • SMS and telephony are billed separately on every plan
  • Advanced route optimization is gated behind Scale at $1,349 per month
#2

Routific

Best for: Small to mid-size delivery businesses that want one flat price
Visit routific.com
Starting price$150/month (up to 1,000 orders)
Free planYes (free for up to 100 orders per month)
Routific homepage

Routific is the simplicity pick. There is exactly one paid plan: $150 per month covers up to 1,000 orders, and above that you pay per order with volume discounts dropping from 15 cents to 3 cents as you scale. Every feature, route optimization, live GPS tracking, email customer notifications, proof of delivery and multi-depot routing, rides on every plan including the free tier.

The model suits businesses with variable or part-time drivers, because adding drivers never changes the bill. What it does not suit is anyone needing SMS notifications as standard, or carrier management and hub operations, which sit outside the platform entirely. A team doing 500 orders a month across any number of drivers pays $150, full stop.

What we like
  • One plan with every feature included, so there is no tier puzzle
  • Unlimited drivers and dispatchers at no extra cost
  • The bill follows order volume, not headcount
Watch out for
  • You pay per order whether your routes are dense or scattered
  • SMS notifications are a paid add-on
  • Above 50,000 orders per month you need a custom quote
#3

Spoke Dispatch

Best for: Courier companies whose driver count changes week to week
Visit spoke.com
Starting price$125/month (Starter plan, 1,000 stops)
Free planNo (7-day free trial)
Spoke Dispatch homepage

Spoke Dispatch, formerly Circuit for Teams, is built for the multi-shipper courier model. You pay per stop delivered, so seasonal drivers, part-timers and subcontractors cost nothing extra to add. The courier-specific depth is the selling point: configurable proof of delivery per client, a client portal, custom stop properties and per-client reporting, all aimed at couriers juggling several shipper accounts.

Pricing runs Starter at $125 per month for 1,000 stops, Premium at $200 for 2,000 and Expert at $1,000 for 12,000, with overage fees on top. Note the direction of the overage math: unlike Routific, the per-stop cost rises as you move up tiers, so growing volumes get relatively more expensive. Under 5 drivers with one anchor client, the route quality tools may matter more than the courier workflow depth.

What we like
  • Per-stop pricing with unlimited drivers and dispatchers on every plan
  • Routes can be edited after drivers leave the depot
  • Client portal lets shippers look up their own orders
Watch out for
  • Overage rates rise with each tier, from 4 cents to 7 cents per stop
  • Data history is capped at 30 days on Starter
  • Some users report a learning curve with in-app route editing
#4

OptimoRoute

Best for: Small delivery and field service teams with stable driver rosters
Visit optimoroute.com
Starting price$35.10/driver/month (Lite, billed annually; $39 monthly)
Free planNo (30-day free trial)
OptimoRoute homepage

OptimoRoute is a pure route planner that does one job well. Lite at $35.10 per driver per month on annual billing covers route optimization, live tracking, the driver mobile app and API access for up to 700 concurrent orders. Pro at $44.10 adds proof of delivery, analytics, weekly planning and real-time order tracking. Annual billing saves 10 percent, and everything is month-to-month with no penalty for canceling.

The honest math: a 10-driver team on Pro pays $441 per month on annual billing, and that number moves every time you hire. It is predictable for tiny teams and punishing for growing ones. The 30-day trial runs Pro-level features, so test the analytics and proof capture before you pay, because Lite leaves both out.

What we like
  • Transparent per-driver pricing with no contracts, setup fees or platform fees
  • Concurrent order caps of 700 on Lite and 1,000 on Pro
  • Weekly planning and analytics on Pro
Watch out for
  • The bill climbs with every driver you hire, busy or not
  • Lite excludes proof of delivery, analytics and customer notifications
  • Pickup and delivery in one route needs the Custom tier
#5

Track-POD

Best for: Operations where proof of delivery is the whole point
Visit track-pod.com
Starting price$49/driver/month (Advanced, billed annually; $59 monthly)
Free planNo (free trial)
Track-POD homepage

Track-POD leads with documentation. Where most tools treat proof of delivery as a checkbox, Track-POD offers configurable proof per delivery, offline capture for low-connectivity stops and audit-ready records, which is why medical and high-value couriers shortlist it. The per-driver Advanced plan at $49 per month billed annually covers route planning, live tracking, geofencing and order management.

Choose the pricing model that matches your shape. Per-driver suits steady fleets; per-order suits variable volumes but starts at $510 per month for 3,000 orders. Either way, factor the 3-driver minimum into small-team math: a 2-driver operation pays for 3.

What we like
  • Deep proof-of-delivery tooling: signatures, up to 10 photos, barcodes, PIN codes and offline capture
  • Two pricing models, per-driver or per-order
  • Customizable notification policies
Watch out for
  • Per-driver plans require a minimum of 3 drivers
  • The per-driver bill scales linearly with fleet size
  • The per-order plans start at $510 per month, which prices out small teams
#6

Tookan

Best for: On-demand delivery operations that dispatch in real time
Visit jungleworks.com
Starting price$99/month (Startup, billed annually; $129 monthly, 1,000 tasks)
Free planYes (Free Forever: 100 tasks per month, 2 agents)
Tookan homepage

Tookan is built for on-demand dispatch rather than planned routes: orders come in, the system auto-assigns them to the nearest available agent, and customers track in real time. The Free Forever tier (100 tasks per month, 2 agents) is rare in this category and makes it the cheapest way to test real dispatch software. Paid plans scale by task volume: Startup at $99 per month annually for 1,000 tasks, Growth at $249 for 3,000, Standard at $399 for 6,000.

Read the plan table before you buy. Route optimization, the feature most buyers assume is included, costs extra on every tier. If your operation runs planned multi-stop routes rather than on-demand jobs, the add-on stack can push Tookan past the all-inclusive competitors quickly.

What we like
  • A genuinely free tier for tiny operations
  • Unlimited agents and drivers on every plan
  • Task-based billing that ignores headcount entirely
Watch out for
  • Route optimization is a paid add-on on every single plan
  • Branded agent apps, booking forms and email parsing are also add-ons
  • Overage rates apply past the task cap
#7

Route4Me

Best for: Large fleets that want to assemble a custom feature set
Visit route4me.com
Starting priceSee website (custom quote only)
Free planNo (demo arranged through sales)
Route4Me homepage

Route4Me is the modular veteran: pick a base plan, then bolt on exactly the capabilities you need from its marketplace, from curbside delivery to avoidance zones. For large operations with unusual constraints, that flexibility is the reason to shortlist it. The platform handles complex multi-constraint routing that simpler tools cannot touch.

The commercial reality is opacity. Route4Me pulled public pricing in January 2026, and third-party reports put historical entry points around $400 per month for 5 users before add-ons. Get the full quote in writing, including every add-on you will actually use, before comparing it against the transparent vendors above.

What we like
  • Deep multi-driver, multi-depot and territory optimization
  • A marketplace of add-ons for specialized needs
  • One of the largest installed user bases in routing
Watch out for
  • No public pricing since January 2026, so every buyer starts with a sales call
  • Add-on costs stack fast on top of the base plan
  • The 7-day free trial was removed in 2026
#8

Detrack

Best for: Cost-conscious teams that want predictable per-driver billing
Visit detrack.com
Starting price$29/driver/month (Pro, billed monthly in USD)
Free planNo (14-day free trial, no credit card required)
Detrack homepage

Detrack is the value pick for teams that want the bill to be boring. Pro at $29 per driver per month includes proof of delivery, live tracking, branded customer notifications, the manager and scanner apps and API access, with unlimited jobs and unlimited dispatchers free. There is no driver minimum, unlike Track-POD, and annual billing saves 10 percent.

The one thing to check is the plan split: route optimization, recurring orders and vehicle safety checks are Advanced-only at $39 per driver. If your dispatcher plans routes rather than just tracking jobs, price the Advanced tier, not Pro. For pure proof-of-delivery and tracking workflows, Pro is the cheapest credible option on this list.

What we like
  • Flat per-driver rate with unlimited jobs and unlimited office users
  • No minimum driver count
  • Five years of data storage on every plan
  • No per-job fees, and SMS runs through your own provider at cost
Watch out for
  • Route optimization sits on Advanced at $39 per driver, not Pro
  • No permanent free tier
  • Advanced analytics are limited to the higher plan

What to check before you sign

Start with the billing model, because it decides your cost at every stage of growth. Per-driver pricing (OptimoRoute, Detrack, Track-POD) is simple but climbs with every hire, including part-timers. Per-task or per-order pricing (Onfleet, Tookan, Routific) follows volume instead, which suits seasonal businesses. Per-stop pricing (Spoke) follows deliveries but watch the overage rates.

Then check what the base price excludes. Route optimization is an add-on at Tookan and gated behind higher tiers at Onfleet. SMS notifications cost extra at Onfleet, Routific and Detrack (where you bring your own provider). Proof of delivery depth varies wildly: Detrack and Track-POD capture photos, barcodes and signatures, while OptimoRoute Lite has no proof capture at all.

Finally, test the driver app. Your dispatchers will tolerate a clunky dashboard, but drivers will not tolerate a clunky app, and adoption lives or dies there. Every tool on this list offers a trial. Run your real routes through it for a week before you commit.

Per-task, per-driver or per-stop: the math that decides

Take a 10-driver team doing 4,000 deliveries a month. On Detrack Pro the bill is $290 per month, flat. On OptimoRoute Pro it is about $441 on annual billing. On Spoke Dispatch Premium it is $200 base for 2,000 stops plus overage on the rest. On Routific it is $150 base plus per-order fees above 1,000. On Onfleet Launch it is $619 for 2,500 tasks, and you would need headroom above that.

Now change the shape. Halve the drivers but keep the volume, and per-driver tools get cheaper while per-task tools stay flat. Double the drivers for seasonal peaks, and per-driver tools punish you while per-stop and per-task tools barely move. There is no universally cheapest option, only the cheapest option for your driver count, your volume and your seasonality. Model all three before you sign.

How we chose

We started with the searches buyers run: courier dispatch software, delivery management software, last-mile delivery software and route optimization software. For each candidate we opened the vendor's own pricing page or official documentation, checked plans against public reviews on G2 and Capterra and practitioner discussion, and compared dispatch depth, proof-of-delivery features and pricing models. Where a price could not be verified on the vendor's own page we wrote "See website" rather than guessing.

Frequently asked questions

How much does courier dispatch software cost?

For a small team, $125 to $300 per month is typical: Spoke Dispatch Starter ($125), Routific ($150) or Detrack Pro at $29 per driver. Mid-size operations pay $400 to $700 on OptimoRoute Pro or Onfleet Launch ($619). Enterprise courier platforms run into the thousands once add-ons stack up.

What is the difference between per-driver and per-task pricing?

Per-driver pricing charges a flat monthly rate for each driver account, regardless of how many deliveries they complete. Per-task or per-order pricing charges for each delivery or pickup, regardless of headcount. Per-driver suits stable full-time fleets; per-task suits variable volumes and part-time or seasonal drivers.

Do I need route optimization, or is dispatch enough?

If your drivers run planned multi-stop routes, you need optimization, and you should confirm it is included: it is a paid add-on at Tookan and gated behind higher tiers at Onfleet. If you dispatch on-demand jobs to the nearest driver, a dispatch-first tool like Tookan or Spoke fits better.

Which courier dispatch software has a free plan?

Routific offers a free tier for up to 100 orders per month with all features except SMS notifications. Tookan has a Free Forever plan with 100 tasks per month and 2 agents. The rest offer free trials, typically 7 to 30 days, but no permanent free plan.

Can I switch dispatch software without disrupting deliveries?

Yes, and most vendors make it straightforward: trials run 7 to 30 days, and month-to-month billing is standard at Detrack, OptimoRoute and Routific. The switching cost is driver retraining, not data migration, so run the new driver app alongside the old one for a week before cutting over.

Does courier dispatch software handle proof of delivery?

All eight do, but depth varies. Track-POD and Detrack capture signatures, photos, barcodes and timestamps with offline support. Spoke Dispatch lets you configure proof requirements per client. OptimoRoute only includes proof capture on Pro and above, so check the tier before you buy.
